KK promotes theocracy

"

What should we laud or lament in the year just ended? Where should we turn our attention in 2011? One troubling trend, I suggest, dwarfs all others in importance. It's the shrinking influence and declining prestige of religion in our nation today.

Increasingly, Americans see religion as a private matter with little to contribute to public debate -- even on issues with moral dimensions, such as marriage and family, abortion and euthanasia. In the crusade to banish faith from public life, judges order county courthouses to be stripped of plaques listing the Ten Commandments, and activists attack Christian hospitals that decline to perform abortions.

Our growing distaste for religion springs, in part, from our modern hatred of constraints on our behavior, and from our equating freedom with living exactly as we please. Judeo-Christianity presents an obstacle here. It holds that there are universal moral truths -- accessible to reason -- that should shape our conduct, and that create obligations to others that require sacrifices we might prefer not to make.

In recent decades, the rise of psychology -- which is replacing religion as a vehicle for understanding what it means to be human -- has greatly facilitated our cherished project of throwing off moral constraints. Almost 50 years ago, psychologist Philip Rieff spelled out the implications in his seminal book, "The Triumph of the Therapeutic."

Rieff wrote that our society's model for the organization of personality -- our paragon, or character ideal -- has undergone a radical shift. The Christian model of man, he explained, dominant for 1,500 years, has been increasingly replaced by "psychological man" as our society's primary character type. The "soul" has been replaced by the "self."

Why does this matter? Traditional Christianity, Rieff observed, made great moral demands on believers. Its goal was salvation; consequently, it exhorted believers to "die to self," repent of sin, and cultivate virtue, self-discipline and humility.

Psychological man, however, rejects the idea of sin and the very possibility of truth. He aspires to nothing higher than "feeling good about himself," and sees nothing more at stake in life than what Rieff calls "a manipulable sense of well-being." While Christian man strives for virtue, says Rieff, psychological man seeks only health, safety and material well-being. While Christian man works to control his impulses, psychological man rushes to release them.

As psychology edges out religion in American life, the language of good and evil is disappearing. As the "self" replaces the "soul," we no longer place priority on cultivating virtue, or see it as possible or even desirable.

The consequences for our personal lives are evident everywhere -- from our crumbling families to our voracious consumerism and our shallow and juvenile popular culture. Increasingly, we aspire to nothing nobler than a big-ticket "entertainment center" in the living room or a Lexus in the garage.

But the growing influence of the psychological model of man also has serious, long-term implications for the health of American democracy. That's because it undercuts a principle at the heart of our nation's founding -- the idea that there is a profound connection between virtue and self-government.

America's founders understood this connection well. They knew that democracy is more than a political arrangement -- it's also a moral and spiritual enterprise. (This is one reason self-government has been so rare in world history.) To flourish, a democracy requires men and women who are not just conglomerations of desires, but virtuous citizens -- honest, courageous, self-controlled and public-spirited.

A society that takes "psychological man" as its character ideal does not foster citizens of this kind, for honesty, generosity and self-restraint don't come naturally to human beings. These traits are difficult to acquire, and require suppression or rechanneling of baser human instincts. Only a society with a moral system based on claims of transcendent truth can help its citizens overcome their selfish tendencies, and successfully cultivate virtue.

James Madison, one of American democracy's greatest architects, explained the connection between virtue and freedom this way: "Is there no virtue among us? If there be not, we are in a wretched situation. No theoretical checks, no form of government can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people is a chimerical idea."

Today, we Americans take our democracy for granted. But our founders warned that our system of self-government is an experiment, and is not guaranteed to succeed. If we allow the "ordered liberty" they envisioned to degenerate to license -- as our embrace of the psychological model of man makes likely -- our experiment may fail.

In the words of theologian George Weigel, "Freedom must be tethered to truth and ordered to goodness if freedom is not to become its own undoing."

I agree to the veracity of this statement. And while KK doesn't come right out and say it - which is rather chicken shitted on her part - she implies that the way to a virtuous citizenry is through christianity. Again, this is true, BUT, it's not the ONLY way. Human virtue is not attainable exclusively through the teachings of christ, just as it is not attainable exclusively through the teachings of mohammad, or the buddha, or don juan, and so on. People of good will can learn from ALL of these - and more.

I agree with you, Greg. I think KK is promoting the idea of a christian theocracy here in the USA. She just doesn't have the guts to come right out and say it.

  5. See, there's this thing about a theocratic government that's very scary ... and should be. KK writes in a tone that is very orwellian in nature with a twist ... it's dependence on religion.

The 'virtues' KK speaks of have no dependence on organized or personal religion - none, nada, zero. Those attributes are taught, and it doesn't matter if they're taught by a religious person or just a good neighbor.

All I've said is that there is a high percentage of Muslims as a whole who support Islamic terror and I've show this to you many times Greg. We need to stop the importation of Muslims to live in the civilized western world until they get rid of their radical element which always shows up in Muslim immigration. All of the Minnesota Somali's going to blow themselves up overseas is unacceptable.

  47. See D2, what you don't realize is that when you keep on with your misinformation and attempts to garner hatred towards a particular religion and/or culture you're just giving reason for recruitment. It also spreads unwarranted fear and detracts from pursuing the real threats.

A terrorist is a terrorist regardless of religion, culture, or reason.

People need to stop promoting the fear and start focusing on what the issue is .. terrorism.

Of course, this means people like you D2 will need to stop lying and learn not to hate other cultures just because they're not like you.

"People need to stop promoting the fear and start focusing on what the issue is .. terrorism."

And you liberals need to start realizing that when you import a lot of Muslims, your risk of Islmaic terrorism goes way up. It's very hard to separate out the terrorists from Muslim, some turn radical after they get here and some have kids who wil turn radical like we've seen in the large Minnesota Somali population.

    ReplyDelete

  50. Greg, don't you think we need to at least do a better job of screening Muslims before they immigrate here? For a while Somali "refugee" importation was halted because of security concerns, but unfortunately is started up full blast again with thousands heading to St. Cloud. Could we stop some Muslim terror like the Christmas tree bomber and the Somali Jihadists living in Minnesota? Or is Islamic terror just a part of Islamic immigration and something we need to learn to live with?

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Or is Islamic terror just a part of Islamic immigration and something we need to learn to live with? "

    1. Stop referring to it as 'islamic'.
    2. It's terrorism and it's home grown.
    3. It's homegrown because people are becoming disenfranchised or ostracised.

Ever notice that the kids who join gangs are outcasts, or have problems with family, home life, etc?

Well, terrorist cells/organizations look for recruits the same way as a gang does ... they look for those who need companionship or just a family sense.

The more we ostracize a particular group when they're in this country the more likely they are to listen to radical thoughts and turn to those who 'appear' to care for them. They want a sense of belonging.

Slowly but surely ties are beginning to form between the Somali community and local leadership. The trust is growing stronger and as it does so does the intel needed to stop the potentials from happening.

Our own population would do well by understanding that the more you accept these folks the more you'll see the incidents slow and you might even be surprised to learn something.

    The Islamization of Europe
    February 2, 2009

I come to America with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic. We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe. This not only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West.

The danger I see looming is the scenario of America as the last man standing. The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe.

The Europe you know is changing. You have probably seen the landmarks. The Eiffel Tower and Trafalgar Square and Rome's ancient buildings and maybe the canals of Amsterdam. They are still there. And they still look very much the same as they did a hundred years ago.

But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist destination, there is another world, a world very few visitors see - and one that does not appear in your tourist guidebook. It is the world of the parallel society created by Moslem mass-migration.

All throughout Europe a new reality is rising: entire Moslem neighborhoods where very few indigenous people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might regret it. This goes for the police as well.

It's the world of head scarves, where women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps ahead. With mosques on many street corners. The shops have signs you and I cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity.

These are Moslem ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Moslem neighborhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe. These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger portions of Europe, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city.

There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe. With larger congregations than there are in churches. And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will dwarf every church in the region.

Many European cities are already one-quarter Moslem: just take Amsterdam, Marseille, and Malmo in Sweden. In many cities over 50% of the under-18 population is Moslem.

Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Moslem neighborhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities. Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve halal (Moslem kosher) food to all pupils.

  72. And then there is the Somali Sex Ring Greg:
    **********************************************
The defendants have pleaded not guilty. Attorneys for brothers Abdifatah (British) Omar and Mohamed (Moe D) Omar declined to comment.

But other interviews, police reports and court documents reveal how investigators with the Gerald Vick Human Trafficking Task Force in St. Paul tracked the case for years.

According to the grand jury indictment made public last month, investigators allege that members of the Somali Outlaws, Somali Mafia and Lady Outlaws gangs pushed girls as young as 12 into prostitution for a decade. One victim, Jane Doe One, was first taken from Minneapolis to Nashville in December 2005 to sell for sex. She was 13 at the time.

There, investigators say, she and other girls were set up in a brothel-like apartment. Jane Doe One told an FBI agent that some of the men she was forced to have sex with were so repulsive, the only way she could endure it was to inhale gasoline fumes or use drugs.

But it was an April 2009 traffic stop that proved pivotal to the case.

Using information from the parents of another girl who had run away -- Jane Doe Two -- members of the Vick Task Force, including Weyker, Special Agent Tom Boyle of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and others, tracked the girl and several men from Minneapolis.

The men picked the girl up from school on Friday, allegedly passed her around several times for sex over the weekend at locations across the Twin Cities, then drove to Nashville to sell her there. Investigators say the men in the car -- Haji Salad, Adbullah Afyare, Abdikarim Ali, Andrew Kayachith and Yassin Yusuf -- made a cell phone video of the girl engaging in sex with them during the drive.

They checked into the Rodeway Inn on Murfreesboro Pike. Many of the city's 6,000 or so Somalis live near the busy commercial strip.

On Tuesday, April 28, the Somalis from Minnesota stopped at a Somali restaurant at the corner of Murfreesboro and Nance. Nashville police stopped the 1999 Lincoln as it left the parking lot. Police were acting at the request of ICE agents working the case. Jane Doe Two was in the car.

An affidavit filed in Davidson County, Tenn., against Abdullahi (Forehead) Afyare, said the girl "said she had sex with her boyfriend and his friends while they were in Minnesota. She said they left Minnesota and drove to Nashville on Monday, 4/27/09. The defendant [Afyare] said he knew they were in trouble because the victim is 14 years old."

But to answer your question ...

Europe has NOT handled the migration of ANY culture well. In particular, Germany is horrible. I was witness to the migration of the East Germans to West Germany in the 80's. The planning and execution was awful ... the welcome arms were incredible, but the rest was a flop. Within one year, there was alot of anger and distraught residents as-well-as immigrants.

Europe is very welcoming place, but not real adept at the follow-through which is why they have an influx and why they are having more issues then they should. In short, they have a very wide entry point, but the end of the road is very, very narrow. This means large amounts of frustration on the current and resident propulation as-well-as the immigrants.

Now, according to you, ANY and ALL muslims are just bad no matter what because they're not Christians so that must be why there can be or are issues. The reality is much different but reality is something you don't like very much D2 since it means you have to admit to your racist and bigoted ways.

You, the consumer would be allowed to choose a plan from a provider and the provider would get the bucks. It's up to the provider to get your business.

    Talk about making it competitive.

    But here's the twist...

it doesn't matter how much you put in (i.e., the very wealthy don't get an advantage), you get the exact same choices. So, if you make 20k/year you will get the same healthcare as the fella making 20mm/yr.

And the lies just keep coming ...

    ReplyDelete
  140. According to Business Insider, a woman claiming to have been a classmate of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords‘ alleged shooter Jared Loughner says he has run into the Congresswoman once before and that he’s “left wing” and “quite liberal.” That comes as some on the left are trying to paint Loughner as one who succumbed to angry, Tea Party rhetoric.

Business Insider says Laughner’s classmate made the revelations about his political persuasions via her Twitter account: (see link)

But when news of the shooting broke, some conservatives, especially Tea Party officials, expressed concern that the left might try to label that gunman as a radical right-winger.

While Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips condemned the attack on Giffords, he told The Hill was concerned the Tea Party movement would be blamed for the incident.

“While we need to take a moment to extend our sympathies to the families of those who died, we cannot allow the hard left to do what it tried to do in 1995 after the Oklahoma City bombing,” he said.

Debbi Dooley, a national coordinator for Tea Party Patriots, echoed a similar sentiment to Congress.org. “A lot of people have bets on how long it will take before they blame this on the tea party and that’s absolutely ridiculous,” she said. Her group condemned the attack via Facebook.

“This heinous act will change the interaction between elected officials and their constituents,” the group’s Facebook wall said. “People also pray for the safety of congressmen, senators, President Obama and other elected officials in the aftermath of this shooting.”

    Phillips and Dooley were right.

“Some prominent liberal bloggers wasted little time before politicizing the horrific and tragic shooting of a congresswoman in Arizona on Saturday,” Politics Daily’s Matt Lewis writes.

For example, Markos Moulitsas, founder of the liberal website DailyKos, sent numerous tweets chiding Palin and the right for the attack:

More anti-conservative political rhetoric bubbling up Saturday evening from a number of Democratic members of Congress.

New Jersey Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell said he feels like the United States is slipping from the rule of law and order and used the opportunity to publicly lambaste Fox News. “There’s an aura of hate and elected politicians feed it, certain people on Fox News feed it,” Pascrell said.

“This hostile rhetoric, I hope we put it behind us and try to work on things to move this country forward,” Rep Albio Sires, D-N.Y. said. “Nobody knows why this guy shot all these people or shot [Giffords], but I just think this rhetoric has to change.”

Additionally, Arizona state Sen. Linda Lopez took direct aim at the tea parties and their “horrible signs” and irresponsibly claimed that the gunman was a “veteran of the Afghanistan war” — an false assumption.
